Autumn Calder, who heads the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency, directs resources and policies to ensure public spaces make us commute and gather in safe and desirable ways.
Kara Holbert, is breathing new life and leadership into Domi Station, one of Tallahassee’s most recognized startup incubators.
Marina Lickson, is the supreme entrepreneur advocate. As director of Northwest Florida programs for the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship (JMI), an outreach at Florida State University, she’s ushering great minds toward even greater ideas and enterprise.
Tangela Lofton, an entrepreneur herself, helps minority-owned business owners identify resources to be successful in her role as regional director of the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida A&M University.
Katrina Tuggerson, is the ever-present face of the Capital City Chamber of Commerce, an organization that’s had a complete about-face since she took the reigns.
Lives are touched and changed daily as a direct result of each of them. To reach this chapter in their lives, they’ve all amassed a deep understanding of what it takes to be a leader and more than just a title.
Life is the ultimate teacher. Early in their budding careers – sitting in workspaces and meetings when they were the only woman or person of color – lessons were learned. Time taught them to find their voice and their way in male-dominated fields or industries, making their mark along the way.
Some of those lessons were hard, hurtful even. Others were a necessary means toward cultivating the dynamic leaders they were becoming. Today, they stand as examples of what’s possible when persistence and passion prevails.
Whether from mentors, peers or supervisors, those lessons shaped them for the positions they’re in now and what’s next.
